Jr./Sr. High Schools
To best describe how Jack works with Jr. and Sr. High School students, we will just say this: A few years ago, Jack was performing at a high school. Three-quarters of the way through the story, there was a fire alarm. The teachers apologized and said that, as it was almost lunch, none of the students would probably come back. Much to everyone's surprise, most of the students came back to hear the rest of the story. For some reason, Jack is able to connect with and leave an indellible impression of today's often cynical students.
We offer three packages to meet your needs. Jack can entertain and educate for an hour in a class or auditorium, sharing an apropos story and leading a short discussion about it. Or he could spend a day visiting many classes. Or he could visit your school for a week or two and teach certain classes how to understand stories and create their own. Through discussions of culture, values, story theory, metaphor and human experience, plot development, dialogue, setting and other writing techniques, students explore the art of storytelling. Jack also offers curricula in movement and acting. All of Jack's curricula address the core requirements of most states.
